ART LAB ONLINE PRO

for Expressive Artists & Expressive Arts Facilitators

Group 2024 running till December
Registration Open for 2025

The ONLINE ART LAB PRO is a virtual art studio designed for an international community of expressive artists and expressive arts facilitators running since 2019. Every year the ONLINE ART LAB evolves and shape-shifts to serve and inspire its community of creators.
Drawing from the principles of Interdisciplinary Expressive Arts and Art Based Research, this ART BASED program aims to support participants’ personal artistic practice focusing on the creative process as a laboratory of experience to hold questions, experiment, engage the imagination, play, explore, discover, create, observe and reflect. Throughout the year, participants develop a personal artistic project and find support for their art practice as artists and facilitators.

To nourish inspiration and activate creation the program combines:

  • virtual studio session with guided hands-on artistic experiments
  • virtual studio session to develop your personal artistic project
  • virtual studio session to deepen personal projects through digital creative tools and creative writing
  • community sharing
  • work presentations
  • constructive feedback and mutual support

The group LABs weave hands-on analogue and digital art making with creative writing and journaling, artistic conversations and inspiration. The approach is interdisciplinary open to all artistic modalities: drawing, painting, mixed media art, creative writing /poetry as well as artistic rituals, installations, improvisations and performances. Personal projects might hybrid several modalities, techniques, subjects, mediums, styles or disciplines.

By the end of the year each participant will have created a portfolio / presentation of their artworks and written an artistic statement about their work and process. Participants might include artistic facilitation as a project in connection to their art practice, as well as Art Based Research, hybridisation and bridges with other disciplines.

    • 20/25 sheets of white paper + 2 sheets of black paper 200g or/and 250g   size around 50 x 70cm or 19 x 27 inches. These sheets will serve as a base to draw, paint & collage. The size doesn’t need to be exact as each country has different standards. 250g is better for paint while 200g is better for collages, so if you can get both qualities.

    • A pack of sheets of WHITE A4 100 gr + some sheets of A4 colour paper of your choice. Choose at least 3 or 4 colours you like. Optional A4 white Rice paper.

    • At least 5 sheets of thin tissue paper some white + some colours of your choice

    • A range of coloured pastels either oil and/or watercolour (water soluble)

    • Your favourite pencils, crayons, markers or felt tip pens

    • Along the year you will create 1 (or more) creative journal /inspirational scrapbook. You could make the base yourself with some of the large white sheet or find a large drawing book with white pages that you would like to use as a base. Both options can also be mixed.

    • A range of basic acrylic paints in large tubes (at least black white red blue yellow + green orange + optional some extra colours that you love)

    • Tools: brushes (thin to large at least 3 sizes), sponge, spatulas, optional small roller

    • Scissors and cutter

    • 500 ml white glue + 1 sticker glue

    • I also recommend for mixed media collage: satinated varnish glue (works well with all kind of paper) and/or acrylic medium for thicker materials.

    • Some meters of string, a basic sawing kit with thick wool needle

    • 1 Paper tape roll

    • Some plasticine (polymer clay) white or coloured – or natural clay – 500 gr or 1kg

    • A neutral white mask in cardboard

    • 2 or 3 cardboard boxes (recycling) that you like, we will use them in different ways for creation.

    • ATTRACTORS :
One (or more) cork board + pins to create attractors board
1 or more boxes (recycling) to keep your attractors such as: Images, wrapping paper, pieces of fabric, natural materials, recycling bits, objects, old toys etc… Any thing that draws your attention as something that could be used in your art.
Anything else that you have from your own studio and art supply stash that inspires you

    • A small tripod for your phone/camera (optional) + Printer (optional)

    • For the Digital Zoom Labs you will need a computer + your phone or tablette
